Sulis Reimagined: NZ’s Artisan Hot Tub Brand Rooted in Ritual & Restoration
The story of how an 18-year-old builder sparked a business inspired by a Celtic goddess.
"Sulis - noun - A Celtic goddess worshipped across ancient Rome from as early as the 4th century BC. A life-giving deity, she was believed to hold the power to heal both physical and spiritual ailments. Pilgrims would travel from far and wide to visit her sacred bathing temples in the ancient city of Bath. To bathe in her waters was to receive her blessing."
These temples were more than just places to cleanse the body they were vibrant, spiritual gathering places. Communities came together in gratitude, reverence and ritual. Soaking in the restorative waters and offering prayers to the goddess Sulis.
Today, Sulis Hot Tubs draws inspiration from this divine lineage calling upon the sacred essence of Sulis and inviting it into each hand-built cedar tub. A Sulis Hot Tub is not just a vessel of water, but an invitation to create a sacred space in your life. A space of healing, restoration and reconnection to the natural world.
From the beginning, founder Reuben never set out to simply build a business or manufacture a product. Inspired by the likes of Yvon Chouinard and the values behind Patagonia, he sought to create a company that gives back to the environment, to community and to each individual who sinks into the waters of a Sulis tub.
The Sulis invitation is simple:
To slow down.
To step outside.
To disconnect from screens and noise.
To gaze up at the stars,
And to be fully present with yourself, with loved ones and with the world around you.
Let your Sulis Hot Tub become a symbol of rest, ritual and reconnection. A modern temple, infused with timeless wisdom.
